NRBY X EDINA RONAY
A meeting of colour, pattern and a shared love of natural fabrics.
~
This autumn, we're delighted to introduce our collaboration with British fashion designer Edina Ronay. For our design director, Iain, the connection goes back much further. In fact, it began more than 34 years ago.
"Edina, you were my first boss! I was a student and did a one-day-a-week work placement, and I came in to be your knitwear assistant."
"It was really fun because you could say, 'This season, let's do Aztec,' and then find fabulous books on Aztec and go from there. Anything we wanted to do, we could, and Iain would start drawing out the patterns on graph paper," remembers Edina. Over the years, the connections continued, with Iain later working with Jo, and Jo subsequently working with Edina.
Edina's love of jewel colours, natural fabrics and playful motifs makes this a particularly natural meeting of two worlds. Across the collection, florals and modern interpretations of Fair Isle are knitted and embroidered in our signature soft merino wool.
Silk velvet brings depth, richness and a little more drama, while vibrant colour runs throughout. There are also nods to Edina's Hungarian heritage, including a paisley print coat and trousers, finished with one of her signature unexpected pops of colour in the lining.
"It's a lovely burst of colour, with that slightly folky feeling, but in a contemporary way," says Jo. "I've loved every minute," says Edina. "So have we!" agrees Iain. "There's a nice synergy between your handwriting, Edina, which is all about colour and pattern, and Jo's absolute passion for colour and the NRBY ethos."
